* Partner Jake Barnes suffered a right thumb amputation in the fifth round of the Wrangler NFR. He finished the last five rounds with partner Trevor Brazile. He rebounded in fine fashion winning the sixth round and tying the then arena record of 3.7 seconds and sharing the victory in round eight with a 3.8 second run. He finished the year ranked third in the world.

Omaha, Neb.).
* Co-champion at the Ellensburg (Wash.) Rodeo.

2004 — Finished 12th in the world standings with $78,629 and was seventh in the Wrangler NFR picking up $27,410; (partner Matt Tyler) Co-champion at La Fiesta de los Vaqueros (Tucson, Ariz.); won Tour round at Clovis (Calif.) Rodeo; won Mineral Wells (Texas) PRCA Rodeo and Grand National (San Francisco); was a semifinalist at Pace Chute-out (Las Vegas); won Pioneer Days Rodeo (Clovis, N.M.) with Steve Purcella; placed in three rounds at the Wrangler NFR winning Rd. 4 with a time of 4.5 seconds; and won the year-end title in the Texas Circuit (with Steve Purcella).
2003 — (partner Daniel Green) Won Southwestern Livestock Show and Rodeo (
El Paso, Texas) and Red Bluff (Calif.) Round-Up; won Rd. 3 with a 3.8-second run (tied arena record) and tied for first in Rds. 2, 7 and 8 with 4.4, 4.1, and 4.0-second runs, respectively, at the Wrangler NFR. Finished the year 8th in the world standings with $98,073.

He initially took insulin injections, but he changed to the insulin pump after his mother-in-law, Janie Ray, showed him an article on PGA golfer Scott Verplank, who used the insulin pump. He was featured on the May issue of Diabetes Forecast, published monthly by the American Diabetes Association … Graduated from Amherst High School with six people … Enjoys watching Dallas Cowboys… Rodeo idol is Clay O'Brien Cooper.
