SHS Academics is built on years of academic success.           ...successful individuals, teams, and coaches.

SHS academics is a collaborative effort based on hours of preparation and practice. The team has won the district championship 6 of the last 8 years, missing out in the 5th and 6th years by 5 points or less. Twelve Academic coaches serve as the backbone of the team. Without them the team's success would be hampered. Additionally, the outstanding students who invest their time in the program reap outstanding rewards. Each year, a large portion of the team's seniors earn various academic scholarships.
In 2022-23, the district academic team won first place with 909 points, earning 14 of 15 district plaques. The Speech team scored more points than any other high school in Texas.

It's all about the opportunities

Over the years SHS has had well over 100 students compete as UIL state qualifiers with numerous state champions! Students and parents alike continue to voice the incredible parallel between SHS Academic program success and college readiness and career success.
