What is SHS Resonance Speech?       ...a very successful team.

The SHS speech team is an elite corps of students who have historically achieved at a very high level. The team competes in three circuits: University Interscholastic League(UIL), Texas Forensic Association(TFA), and National Speech and Debate Association(NSDA). The team has won 3rd place at state UIL - 1st place at Regional UIL - and numerous UIL District Championships, 1st place Region 1 Sweepstakes at TFA state, and were double octofinalist at the NSDA National Championship in World Schools Debate. Additionally the team has won several state UIL individual Championships.
Over the years, team members have won tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships from the UIL TILF Scholarship Fund. For the last four years all of these scholarships have ranged from $4,000 to $8,000 per student; and, in 2023 an individual $16,000 scholarship with an Academic team total of $26.000.
In 2022-23 the team has set many new records:
1. Took all 5 top spots in UIL Region Congress.
2. Won the Outstanding Presiding Officer award at UIL State Congress.
3. Qualified all 5 students participating in NSDA District to Nationals. 1st time for a Duo team.
4. Qualified 9 students to TFA state (previous record 7).
5. Won the UIL District speech trophy again. The team won 247 of 251 possible points. Top in Texas 1A through 6A.
6. Qualified 14 speech students to UIL Regional. Won the Regional Speech trophy again.
7. Back-to-back 3rd place State Speech Sweepstake plaques.

It's all about the journey

Students that exit this program have been very successful in their college endeavors and occupations. Numerous students and parents claim that this program is the best thing to ensure college success. There are no punishments, members are self motivated. If you are self motivated, the program provides incredible opportunities to better your academic game and your occupational success.
